How Elon Musk Rose to Fame

Elon Musk was born on June 28, 1971, in Pretoria, South Africa. He showed an early interest in technology and taught himself computer programming.

1. Zip2 (1995)

Musk co-founded Zip2, a company that provided business directories and maps for newspapers. In 1999, Compaq acquired Zip2 for approximately $307 million, earning Musk his first fortune.

2. PayPal (1999-2002)

Musk founded X.com, an online banking company. X.com later became PayPal, which revolutionized online payments. In 2002, eBay acquired PayPal for $1.5 billion in stock, making Musk a multimillionaire.

3. SpaceX (2002)

After PayPal, Musk founded SpaceX with the goal of reducing space transportation costs and making life multiplanetary. SpaceX became the first private company to send astronauts to the International Space Station.

4. Tesla (2004-Present)

Musk joined Tesla Motors and became its largest shareholder and later CEO. Tesla transformed the electric vehicle industry with popular models such as the Model S, Model 3, Model X, and Model Y.
